What Is Crab Island?

Crab Island isn’t really an island. It’s a shallow sandbar in Choctawhatchee Bay, just north of the Destin bridge (US-98) near East Pass. As the tide comes in, clear Gulf water flows over the white sand, and much of it is shallow enough to stand in, so boats anchor and guests wade, swim and float. The only way to get there is by boat.

What to Expect on Your Trip

  • Time at Crab Island to swim, float and soak up the sun
  • A cruise around Destin Harbor and East Pass, where dolphins are often spotted

Tips for a Great Crab Island Day

  • The water is usually clearest around high tide, so ask us about timing when you book.
  • Summer weekends and holidays are the busiest. Weekdays are calmer.
  • Bring sunscreen, sunglasses and towels.
  • All of our boats are BYOB, so pack the drinks and snacks you like.
